Winter Ballad  is a beautifully melodic, yet fresh and modern solo by Israeli composer Jan Freidlin.  Its haunting melodic lines and dynamic subtleties are offset by occasional bluesy moments in the piano.  Although most of the piece is conventionally notated, there are occasional mildly avant-garde notations requiring a mature player on both trombone and piano for interpretation.
